Sidetang was one of subsidiaries under the umbrella of Zhenhua Investment International, Shanghai, founded by four brothers of Zhou’s clan as aristocratic offspring of the Royal Yellow-Flag military system presided directly by the emperor of Qing Dynasty. The name of Si-de-tang is derived from the Chinese ancient literature, meaningfully defined as our spirit for the future development:
“Si” –four gallant horses galloping together with the wagon always faster ahead others.
“De” –a Chinese traditional virtue, featuring our vision with concepts of “honesty and trust”, “harmony” and “all-wins” attached.
“Tang”– a gorgeous hall where antiques, paintings, calligraphies and other artworks are collected and exhibited.
Sidetang is an art gallery, specializing in Chinese paintings, calligraphies and antiques or so of art collection, exhibition, trading and knowledge exchange that we operated. Based on Chinese art essence and its heritage, Sidetang significantly aims at collecting, researching and recommending artworks, which are mostly created by modern artists at their middle age of about 30-40 years old in different range of schools of art well-known in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, potentially with wider development space in value-added.
Materialised life coupled with sufficient wealth has changed Chinese lifestyle and taste in art as a result of a great increase on the emerging demand of cultural artworks. Over the recent years, Chinese paintings and calligraphies have incrementally been seeped into families as a common way to decorate sophisticated life. Sidetang features a variety of modernized services to help customers uplift their higher level at art appreciation with keen insight of the art market through not just profoundly exchanging art knowledge in exhibitions and properly adding specific interpretations on both paintings and calligraphies from aesthetics point of view, but offering value assessments for artworks also.
Efforts have continuously been dedicated in strengthening a strong network in cooperation with famous artists and art commentators throughout Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong since Sidetang was founded. However, an outstanding management system is also deliberately forged by setting up Advisory Committee, Management Committee, Art Committee and Marketing Services Department, which already makes Sidetang an ideal gallery for artists to exhibit, art hobbyists to browse through, and investors to involve in.
